Fatal motor vehicle accidents are being reported numerous times a day due to the fault of negligent drivers. A fatal motor vehicle accident can be devastating, and more so when someone else is responsible due to negligence. The only thing that can make a fatality worse is when the victim is the innocent party. The state of Arkansas is mourning the loss of one of their own this past week after a 31-year-old woman was killed in a car accident.
The 31-year-old driver and his female passenger were driving on Highway 117 in Jesup when the accident occurred. According to the accident report, they were driving North when the driver veered off the roadway. After this occurred the vehicle hit a guard rail. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and later died from her injuries.
The driver allegedly fled the scene after the motor vehicle accident happened. He was later found by Lawrence County deputies and is now in jail after being charged with fleeing the scene of an accident. The reasons for the driver veering off of the roadway are unknown, but he is clearly now facing legal issues.
Residents of this Arkansas town will likely not soon forget this motor vehicle accident. Accidents like this are tragic, but more so when the responsible party apparently tries to avoid responsibility by fleeing the scene. The victim's family retains the right to file a claim for financial damages to cover any funeral costs that should arise following the passing of this woman. Although no amount of money can return the woman's life, it could certainly help lessen the financial strain that comes with unexpected deaths.
